Along with his wife, Sarah, Charles Ruiz raised three children at 151 east King street, and lived there for half a century.
Charles was an auto mechanic around the time of the First World War, then an electrical apprentice at the huge Santa Fe Railroad shops (where his father-in-law, Gabriel Velarde, had worked as a sweeper).
Charles eventually became a foreman at Santa Fe, working there until his retirement.
